PBS KIDS PLAY

PBS KIDS PLAY! is a cross-curricular, interactive program for PreK through 1st grade students. The program covers 7 major curriculum, plus over 30 skill areas in STEM, literacy, creativity, approaches to learning, and social-emotional development. It also addresses the most common early learning classroom themes.

Each activity in PBS KIDS PLAY! is designed to meet a national educational standard for preschool and kindergarten. PLAY! reports on each child’s progress as he or she advances through the curriculum. You can learn the details about what skill or skills each game addresses and how

The curriculum is divided into seven core areas:

  • 1. Creativity
  • 2. Healthy Development
  • 3. Language Development
  • 4. Literacy
  • 5. Mathematics
  • 6. Science
  • 7. Social Studies

Game-Based Adaptive Learning. The program features 55 immersive games and interactive projects, all exclusive to PLAY. Each game contains three levels of play, ranging from PreK to 1st grade, and students win rewards as they pass these game levels. All games are correlated with Common Core standards.

Intrinsically Motivating. PBS KIDS PLAY! features favorite TV characters that engage and motivate children in learning. In addition to the standards-based games, supplemental resources include hundreds of PBS KIDS episodes, dozens of printable activities, and lesson plans that each tie into the games. (short blurb version)

Granular Progress Tracking. PBS KIDS PLAY! tracks progress in each skill area by student and by class or group, reporting on the current level in over 30 skills. Class-level reporting can also aggregate progress by subject area and includes time on task information as well.

Future-Proof Solution. PLAY! is a future-proof solution with no installation, maintenance or upgrades needed. The program is entirely Web browser-based and runs on any operating system. No hardware or software is required other than Adobe Flash (version 9 r115 or higher).
